"To enjoy the glow of good health, you must exercise."
-Gene Tunney
Exercise is a big part of the Dream Health lifestyle. In fact, it is the 'E' in DREAM!
With our busy schedules, it can be difficult to determine what activities receive our priority and attention throughout the day. Certain things may be put off to a later date, or simply passed over, but exercise should not be one of them. The physical and mental benefits from exercise are too great to list, but here are a few reasons we frequently find ourselves discussing with customers:
1. It makes you happy: Studies confirm there is a distinct relationship between exercise and an increased release of feel-good hormones. In fact, people who exercise regularly also have a lower risk of depression. Although our culture tends to emphasize medical interventions for almost every problem, exercise is a behavioral treatment that can naturally improve your health over time.
2. It can improve time in bed: Regular exercise can boost your activity in bed. Keeping your muscles active promotes hormone production, and more muscle mass means more stimulation and hormone production as well. This helps both men and women maintain their sexual function as the years progress. Additionally, exercise can help with your not-so-active bed activity- sleep.
3. Boost your brain and fight dementia: Both your intellectual skills and memory benefit from regular physical activity. Free flowing, increased oxygen to the brain boosts intellingence and your ability to carry out everyday activities. Although we don't know for certain that exercise can slow or prevent Alzheimer's, signs indicate that it may help. Regular activity can aid in preservation of neurons in your brain which is an advantage should you ever develop the disease.
Exercise takes so many forms that there really is something for everyone. Don't measure yourself against the physical activity level of others- go at your own pace and choose the method that is right for you. Time of day, activity level, and exercise type are all ways you can customize your routine to make sure it meets your needs and makes you feel happy and accomplished. If you don't currently exercise, start small and work your way up as you find time to fit it in your schedule. Eventually you will look forward to it!
